By the time you have finished implementing a new piece of software today, it has often already been rendered obsolete by something else.
In fact, by the time you’ve even finished reading this sentence, you’ve probably missed out on the next big thing.
The pace of development right now is blistering. It is genuinely exciting, but it creates a dangerous cycle for businesses. As soon as you are onboarded, the FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) kicks in.
You see:
- a new AI agent
- a new automation wrapper
- a new “game-changing” platform
and you wonder: Did I bet on the wrong horse?
This anxiety is natural, but it is also a distraction.
And in business, distraction kills.
So, I have a new manifesto for 2026…
The philosophy is simple:
- Build it. (Design a system that fits your actual workflow).
- Keep it. (Commit to it for 12 months).
- Use it. (Let your team actually master the tool).
You’re going to Build the setup that’s right for you, Keep it in place for a set period and allow your team to Use it properly.
Yes, you’ll miss out on next year’s latest tool.
But the upside is enormous.
You’ll actually get to realise the value of your setup.
You’ll find a groove, make it your own, and generate proper impact.
And you’ll shut out the noisy hype so you can really focus.
Stability.
It’s an enduring competitive advantage you won’t find the tech sector shouting about.
Two Ways To Create Stability
There are two routes to creating stability:
- Keep your current setup
- Build a new setup, then keep it
If your setup is working effectively, keep it.
I would not be doing my job properly if I did not suggest “keeping the status quo” as a viable and frequently advisable option.
BUT… if you intend to commit to stability, a focused rebuild offers the chance to modernise and optimise so that you have the ideal system in place first.
And, if you’re going to rebuild, I firmly believe that it’s worth building in Attio.
Why Attio?
Attio isn’t so much an ‘app’ as it is a ‘commercial operating system’.
You can build Attio to perfectly match your business’ commercial model (whether you’re a VC, an agency, a SaaS, a consulting firm, etc.), replacing frustrating legacy tools with a far more modern, user-friendly interface that your team will actually enjoy using.
There’s a reason the big CRM providers have been around for decades. This is critical, central software that becomes intrinsic to their clients’ operations and value.
I believe (and investors agree) that Attio is here for the long-term.
This is a tool that’s been built to stand the test of time. Whilst others vibe coded AI chatbots, Attio has laid the foundations that will enable businesses to run their entire commercial operations in a modern, secure and powerful platform.
Attio is by no means the only option, but if you want to build something that will last, it is an exceptionally strong choice.
Accelerating Growth: Stability-First
Wise investors know that stability and long-term investment is the surest path to sustained growth.
There will always be a place for exciting bets on new ventures – just as it’s always possible to try an add-on tool that might help your business grow.
But we don’t need to let these new ventures distract from the fundamentals. The reality, in contrast to the marketing messaging, is that they are unlikely to be genuine ‘game-changers’.
We should remember that stability is a proven path to growth.
That’s why I’m embracing stability.
- I’m doubling down on Attio, because I know it works, and believe it holds fundamental and lasting value for my clients.
- I’ll keep track of all the latest apps and developments, but will protect my clients from distractions and sideshows.
- I’ll maintain a focus on the people within my clients’ organisations, and design setups that actually help them do their jobs, even if that means simplifying down or ‘missing out’.
I know this isn’t particularly “tech” – but I think it makes more business sense.
